If you have any allergies or are on any other medications, consult your doctor before using Lactulose Solution. The product may include inactive substances that can cause major side effects or other complications. If you have a serious medical condition, such as a low galactose diet, intestinal blockage, or diabetes, you should not use this drug.
The release of mesalazine in the colon may be prevented. Oral neomycin and antacids have a reduced effect.
In patients with galactosemia and intestinal obstruction, lactulose is not recommended.
Lactulose increases peristalsis by causing an osmotic action in the colon, resulting in intestinal distention. It decreases the absorption of ammonium ions and harmful nitrogenous substances in hepatic encephalopathy, resulting in lower blood ammonia levels.
Constipation:
Adults: Initially 15 ml twice daily, adjusted according to patient's need.
Children: Under 1 year: 2.5 ml twice daily
1-5 years: 5 ml twice daily
5-10 years: 10 ml twice daily
Hepatic encephalopathy: 30-50 ml 3 times daily, subsequently adjusted to produce 2-3 soft stools daily.
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect even sometimes unable to demonstrate the risk on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required.

There is no specific information about whether this medicine is passed on to the baby through breast milk. Discuss with your doctor before breastfeeding.
