Precautions and warnings

Vitamin E is probably safe for children when taken properly by mouth. However, children should not take vitamin E doses that exceed the daily maximum limits. These limitations are 300 IU for children aged 1-3 years, 450 IU for children aged 4-8 years, 900 IU for children aged 9-13 years, and 1200 IU for children aged 14-18 years.

Bleeding disorders: Vitamin E may aggravate bleeding problems. Vitamin E supplements should be avoided if you have a bleeding issue.

Vitamin E may raise the chance of death in persons who have had a history of heart disease. People with a history of heart disease should avoid taking more than 400 IU of vitamin E per day.

Diabetes: Vitamin E has been linked to an increased risk of heart failure in diabetics. Vitamin E doses greater than 400 IU per day should be avoided by diabetics.

Vitamin E may be safe to use during pregnancy if taken in the recommended daily dose. Take vitamin E supplements only after consulting with your healthcare professional during the first eight weeks of pregnancy. It could be hazardous to the child. The maximum suggested quantity of vitamin E later in pregnancy is 800 mg for those 14-18 years old and 1000 mg for those more than 18 years old.

During and after surgery, vitamin E may increase the risk of bleeding. At least two weeks before a scheduled surgery, stop taking vitamin E supplements.

VITAMIN E interacts with Selumetinib (Koselugo).

Contraindications

There is no absolute contraindication except known hypersensitivity to Vitamin amin E.

Mode of actions

Vitamin E protects red blood cells from hemolysis, protects polyunsaturated fatty acids in cell membranes from free radicals, and prevents the oxidation of vitamins A and C.

Pregnancy & Lactation
