Precautions and warnings
Do not use other skin products at the same time, especially those that remove dead skin (keratolytic agents). Stay out of sunlight, UV light, and harsh weather, such as cold temperatures. Keep this medicine away from your eyes, mouth, nose, mucous membranes, and any open wounds. If you get severe redness, swelling, blisters, or crusting, use the product less often or stop using it. Do not use medicated or drying soaps, rough soaps and cleansers, or wash and scrub your skin harshly. Avoid any skin products that have a lot of alcohol, menthol, spices, or lime.

Drug Interactions
- Helps minoxidil get absorbed through the skin more easily.
- Using antifibrinolytic drugs together increases the risk of serious, possibly fatal blood clots.
- Taking azole antifungals with tretinoin can raise tretinoin levels in the body.
- Makes the skin-peeling effects of sulphur, resorcinol, benzoyl peroxide, and salicylic acid stronger.
- Increases the risk of sunburn when used with medicines that make the skin more sensitive to sunlight, such as thiazides, tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, phenothiazines, and sulfonamides.
- Serious risk: Combining tretinoin with tetracyclines can greatly increase the risk of high pressure in the brain, which can be life-threatening.
Contraindications
Do not use if you are allergic to retinoids. Avoid applying to skin that is eczematous, sunburned, or broken. Not to be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Mode of actions
Tretinoin is a form of vitamin A called trans-retinoic acid. It works by speeding up the growth and replacement of skin cells in hair follicles and makes these cells less sticky, which helps to clear out existing clogged pores (comedones) and stops new ones from forming. Tretinoin also thins out the outer layer of the skin (stratum corneum). In cases of acute promyelocytic leukemia, tretinoin helps cancer cells mature and grow more normally, which reduces their rapid growth.
Dosage & Administration
Adult: Topical Acne As 0.01-0.1% cream/gel/alcoholic soln: Apply 1-2 times/day.
Mottled hyperpigmentation, roughness and fine wrinkling of photodamaged skin As 0.02-0.05% preparation: Apply once daily at night.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required despite potential risks.
Mothers with a newborn baby who have used this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy may seldom create symptoms including drowsiness, muscle stiffness or shakiness, feeding or breathing troubles, constant crying. If you notice any of these symptoms of your baby's particularly during their first month, tell the doctor immediately.
This medicine passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
