IDS IV is indicated for
- Dehydration

Precautions and warnings
This medicine may cause too much fluid or certain substances in the body. Use it carefully in patients with heart failure, serious kidney problems, or any condition that causes the body to retain sodium and develop swelling. Check blood potassium levels regularly. Do not give this medicine through the same IV line as blood, because clumping may occur. Be cautious in people with diabetes or trouble processing carbohydrates, as well as in children and newborns (especially very low birth weight babies). There is a risk of low potassium when giving strong sugar solutions through an IV. Be careful if the patient is taking corticosteroids or corticotropin. Use with caution during pregnancy.

- hypervolaemia.
Contraindications
Allergy to corn products.
Mode of actions
Dextrose and sodium chloride solutions provide the body with important electrolytes, calories, and water to help keep you hydrated. Sodium and chloride help control the body’s acid-base balance. Dextrose gives you calories and energy, is quickly used by the body, and helps prevent the loss of body protein and nitrogen. It also helps the body store glycogen and can reduce or prevent ketosis.
Dosage & Administration
Adult: Dose depends on age, weight and clinical condition of the patient. Child: Dose depends on age, weight and clinical condition of the patient.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required despite potential risks.
Mothers with a newborn baby who have used this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy may seldom create symptoms including drowsiness, muscle stiffness or shakiness, feeding or breathing troubles, constant crying. If you notice any of these symptoms of your baby's particularly during their first month, tell the doctor immediately.
This medicine passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
