Precautions and warnings

Tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have any of the following: certain metabolic disorders, alcohol abuse, stomach/intestinal problems (such as ulcers, colitis).

If the iron supplement you're taking also contains folic acid, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have vitamin B12 deficiency (pernicious anemia) before taking it.

Drug Interactions

Bisphosphonates (for example, alendronate), levodopa, penicillamine, quinolone antibiotics (for example, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin), thyroid treatments (for example, levothyroxine), and tetracycline antibiotics can all be affected by this product. Separate your doses of these medications from your doses of this product as much as feasible. Ask your doctor or pharmacist how long you should wait between doses and if they can help you come up with a dosing regimen that works for all of your drugs.

Mode of actions

Iron: An vital component in the synthesis of hemoglobin, appropriate levels of iron are required for successful erythropoiesis; it also functions as a cofactor for a number of important enzymes, including electron transporting cytochromes. Iron stores in hemoglobin, myoglobin, and enzymes are replaced, allowing hemoglobin to carry oxygen.

Folic acid, which is required for nucleoprotein synthesis and normal erythropoiesis, is converted to its metabolically active form, tetrahydrofolic acid, in the liver and plasma by dihydrofolate reductase, which prevents neural tube defects in women of childbearing potential and requires higher doses during pregnancy.

Zinc is a cofactor in over 100 enzymes, has a role in DNA synthesis, promotes a healthy immune system, aids in the maintenance of one's sense of smell and taste, and may help insulin work properly.

Dosage & Administration

One capsule daily. In more severe cases, 2 capsules a day may be required or as directed by the physician.

Pregnancy & Lactation

FDA has not yet classified this medicine into a specified pregnancy category. Although there is no enough evidence that taking this medicine during you are pregnant is harmful.

Discuss with your doctor if you are trying to get pregnant while taking this medicine too.

If you do become pregnant while you are taking this medicine, you should continue to take it and contact with your doctors as quickly as possible.
