Mode of actions

Polyethylene Glycol works by keeping water in the stool, making it softer and easier to pass. It does not change how the body absorbs or releases glucose or electrolytes.

Sodium chloride is the main salt found outside cells. It helps maintain the balance of fluids and electrolytes in the body, controls water movement, and restores sodium levels. It is used to provide fluids and electrolytes for hydration, treat metabolic acidosis, prepare blood filters for dialysis, and manage diabetes with high blood sugar. It can also be used to dilute other medicines before giving them through an IV.

Potassium chloride is an important salt found inside cells. It helps send nerve signals in the heart, brain, and muscles, allows muscles to contract, and is necessary for healthy kidney function, acid-base balance, using carbohydrates for energy, and stomach acid production.

Sodium bicarbonate increases the pH of blood and urine by providing bicarbonate ions, which neutralize acids in the body. It also neutralizes stomach acid by producing carbon dioxide.
