Precautions and warnings
Obat ini dapat menyebabkan penumpukan cairan dan/atau garam. Gunakan dengan hati-hati pada pasien dengan gagal jantung, masalah ginjal parah, atau kondisi apa pun yang menyebabkan tubuh menahan natrium dan mengalami pembengkakan. Periksa kadar kalium darah secara teratur. Jangan memberikan obat ini bersamaan dengan darah, karena dapat menyebabkan penggumpalan. Hati-hati pada penderita diabetes atau yang kesulitan mengolah karbohidrat. Ada risiko kadar kalium rendah ketika memberikan larutan gula kuat melalui IV. Berhati-hatilah terhadap anak-anak, terutama bayi baru lahir dan bayi dengan berat badan lahir sangat rendah. Berhati-hatilah jika pasien juga mengonsumsi steroid atau kortikotropin. Berhati-hatilah saat memberikannya kepada wanita hamil.
Side-effects
- Demam
- infeksi pada tempat suntikan
- trombosis vena atau flebitis yang meluas ke tempat suntikan
- ekstravasasi dan hipervolemia.
Mode of actions
Larutan dekstrosa dan natrium klorida memberi tubuh elektrolit penting, energi (kalori), dan air agar tetap terhidrasi. Natrium dan klorida membantu mengontrol keseimbangan asam-basa tubuh. Dekstrosa adalah sejenis gula yang memberi energi. Tubuh dengan mudah menggunakan dekstrosa, yang membantu mencegah hilangnya protein dan nitrogen tubuh. Ini juga membantu tubuh menyimpan glikogen (suatu bentuk energi) dan membantu menghentikan atau mencegah ketosis (suatu kondisi di mana tubuh menggunakan lemak sebagai energi, bukan gula).
Dosage & Administration
Dewasa: Dosis IV tergantung usia, berat badan dan kondisi klinis pasien.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Meskipun penelitian pada reproduksi hewan menunjukkan efek buruk pada janin dan belum ada penelitian yang memadai dan terkontrol dengan baik pada wanita hamil, namun selama kehamilan, obat ini dapat digunakan tepat ketika benar-benar diperlukan meskipun ada potensi risikonya.
Ibu dengan bayi baru lahir yang telah menggunakan obat ini selama 3 bulan terakhir kehamilan mungkin jarang mengalami gejala termasuk mengantuk, otot kaku atau gemetar, kesulitan makan atau bernapas, dan menangis terus-menerus. Jika Anda melihat gejala-gejala ini pada bayi Anda terutama pada bulan pertama, segera beri tahu dokter.
Obat ini masuk ke dalam ASI. Bicaralah dengan dokter Anda sebelum menyusui.
