Bromazepam Similar medicine
The usage of benzodiazepines and benzodiazepine-like drugs can lead to physical and psychological dependence on these medications. This dependence is dependent on the dose and length of medication; it is also more common in patients with a history of alcoholism. When physical reliance has been established, stopping the treatment will result in withdrawal symptoms. Headaches, muscle discomfort, excessive anxiety, tension, bewilderment, and irritability are some of the symptoms. Because the danger of withdrawal and rebound symptoms is higher when the medication is abruptly stopped, it is recommended that the dosage be gradually reduced. Bromazepam is not indicated as a first-line treatment for insomnia brought on by the psychotic disease. Driving a car or using machinery should be done with caution.
Bromazepam's sedative effects may be exacerbated when mixed with other centrally active medications. Antidepressants, hypnotics, opioids, antipsychotics, sedatives, antiepileptic medicines, sedative antihistamines, and anesthetics are examples of these medications. Cimetidine may lengthen bromazepam's elimination half-life when taken together. Bromazepam should not be taken with alcohol because the sedative effect of bromazepam may be amplified by the alcohol.
Preexisting CNS depression or coma, resp depression, acute pulmonary insufficiency or sleep apnea, severe hepatic impairment, not indicated for chronic psychosis, phobic or obsessional states, may trigger harmful or aggressive conduct and glaucoma.
Bromazepam is a benzodiazepine that shares many of the same qualities as diazepam. It is used to treat anxiety that occurs on its own or in conjunction with sleeplessness.
Adult: PO Initial: 6-18 mg/day in divided doses. Higher doses have occasionally been given to hospitalized patients. Dose should be reduced at least half in elderly patients and those with hepatic and renal impairment.
